Well the winter has moved over and it has been some good fishing over the winter period as we took on the light tackle 6kg kingi comp. Mixed results with us going on to top 3 position with 4 good fish landed. Day 2 started well and after several bust offs with one fish being 25kg plus we were some what gutted as we had him on for 1.5hrs and lost oi at the boat by a slight f... up. say no more. this would have taken us to a #1 pos...never mind.
Day 3 we got 3 more fish and back up on the top 5 score and in to day 4.. this being the last day we had to pull some good fish and the wind picked up to 30knts from the east. Luckly for the fleet a bite happened at mao mao rock and all 30 boats experianced good fishing. We broke 3 fish off and experianced a bite from a marlin as did 3 or 4 others. this fish swam through the fleet eating our blu mackerals. Yep he busted off every boat.. Back to the kingi comp we hooked up on a nice 20kg fish and battled for 2hrs to have the fish hit by a mako at the boat, fish dsq we went back into the bite zone to have another hookup and 2hrs again a 15kg landed but was foul hooked and thus taking so long. That was us as stop fishing finished early on last day and we came home on 7 place with a great comp and hard luck stories... well be back to get our name on the trophy
